Elizabeth is 14 years old and just had bilateral Symes amputation. She was born with fibular hemimelia in both legs. Because she was born with it in both legs, it was easier to wait and allow Elizabeth to make her own decisions regarding amputation and when to have it. After 2 years of almost constant pain and one failed surgery to try and make it better she finally chose amputation and had it done on June 14, 2000.

This is a picture of Elizabeth with her cast on 2 weeks after her surgery. I know Elizabeth will do well because she is a fighter.

 She made flags this year (2003) which is part of the marching band.  They were in the 4th of July parade and this is her in her uniform.
I might add she is doing great learning the flag routines.
